Rebecca Porter - Member at Large

Rebecca Elliott received her BM from College in Moorhead, Minnesota in 2019. She is currently the 6-12 Band Director at Valley City Public Schools here in North Dakota, but began her teaching career in Fertile, MN as the 5-12 Band Director and 2-5 Elementary Music Teacher. Her passion for student inclusion in the arts, background in rural teaching, and desire to helpcontinually improve the band legacy in North Dakota lead her to the opportunity to serve as a Member at Large for the North Dakota National Band Association. She has been a member of NAfME since 2018, a member of Minnesota’s Band Director’s Association since 2019, and NDNBA since 2021.

 

Brittney Schwingler - Member at Large

Brittany Schwingler is a graduate of Concordia College - Moorhead where she obtained her Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education in 2015. She began her career in Crosby, ND teaching 7-12 Choir and 5-12 Band. She was the Director of Bands at Stanley High School in Stanley, ND for 6 years where she taught 5-12 Band, Drumline, and Music Tech. She is now the Director of Bands at Jamestown High School in Jamestown, ND where she teaches Guitar, Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, and Symphonic Band. Ms. Schwingler is also the Executive Director for the North Dakota Music Educators Association where she helps run the annual NDMEA conference and attends National NAfME meetings to represent North Dakota and the music educators within the state. She is a member of the North Dakota Band Directors Association, North Dakota Music Educators Association, the National Association for Music Education, and Phi Beta Mu.

Erik Stordalen - Member at Large

Erik Stordalen received his Bachelor of Science in Music Education from North Dakota State University. From the fall of 2002 through the spring of 2008, he taught in Manvel, North Dakota. During his six years in Manvel, Mr. Stordalen taught K-6 General Music, 6-8 Choir and 5-8 Band. From the fall of 2008 to the spring of 2013, Mr. Stordalen was the Vocal Music Director at Elroy Schroeder Middle School in Grand Forks.
In the fall of 2013, Mr. Stordalen joined the Century High School Music faculty as Associate Director of Bands. His duties include conducting the Prep Band, Concert Band, and Jazz Ensemble #2 as well as assisting with the Wind Ensemble, Freshmen Band and the Pep/Marching Bands, providing support as a brass specialist. Mr. Stordalen is also the Assistant Director for the Horizon Middle School Drama Department and the sound engineer for the Century High School musicals. In past summers, he has been on staff with The Sleepy Hollow Arts Park as a technical assistant and music director/pit director. Some of his most recent shows are Cabaret, Little Shop of Horrors and Jersey Boys. Mr. Stordalen resides in Bismarck with his wife Connie, son Konnor, daughters Samantha and MeKayla and dog Eve.
